Science Café 2010
KNME (PBS - northern & central New Mexico) presents a new kind of Café, a SCIENCE Café. Twelve or more times a year, KNME will host a Science Café, at various locations. The concept is to show clips from an episode of NOVA scienceNOW, the Online NewsHour Science Reports, Nature or a comparable program, with an expert on that topic on hand to answer questions, and have an open discussion with the audience in a café style atmosphere. Take part - or listen to the discussion swirling around you. It's fun, it's casual, it's laid back... The estimated number of attendees range from 50-80 people per Café.

ALGAE FUEL
The earth is home to over 30,000 species of algae, a family of bizarre organisms that are neither plant nor animal. You'll find them from the tropics to the poles. Some are bigger than you, others are too tiny to see with the naked eye but thanks to a few of the tiniest ones, someday you just might be using algae to fuel your car.
Come to KNME's September Science Café, view a segment of Algae Fuel from NOVA scienceNOW, and join in a discussion with Dr. Jerilyn Timlin, a chemist at Sandia National Laboratories, to learn what scientists in New Mexico are doing to help address the nation's future energy needs with algal biofuels.
